Common Yellowthroat Patch
#59 Common Yellowthroat
One of the most numerous and widespread warblers, the Common Yellowthroat is loud and, in the case of the black-masked males, unmistakable. It’s the only North American warbler that nests in open marshes, and can be found from coast to coast when breeding. Though often hidden in reeds and thickets, the male will climb up to belt out his distinctive song, wichity-wichity-wichity.
One of its greatest threats, as for all songbirds, are collisions with glass, often as a result of light pollution. So please make your windows feather-friendly and turn off non-essential lights at night.
